Aaron Rodgers has ruptured his Achilles and will be out for the rest of the 2023 season, the Jets announced.
It was an off-season to remember for Jet fans. Between the additions of future hall of fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers and superstar running back Dalvin Cook, as well as the appearance on HBO’s Hard Knocks, fans had their sights set on the Super Bowl.
That all came crashing down when Rodgers was sacked on only his fourth play in a Jet uniform. Here’s how it happened:
Rodgers was helped off the field and taken to the blue medical tent on the sideline, then was carted to the locker room. Rodgers was later ruled out for the rest of the game and the team announced that his X-rays were negative.
Rodgers was traded to the Jets in April for a 2023 first-round pick, a 2023 second round pick, a 2023 sixth-round pick, and a conditional 2024 second-round pick. If Rodgers could’ve played 65% or more of snaps for the Jets offense this season, that second-round pick would’ve become a first-round pick for the Green Bay Packers.
The Jets will have to lean on former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson at quarterback to keep their high hopes alive.
