After a year of Covid-19 mandates and restrictions, Ocean County College announced that the schools mask mandate has been rescinded.

In a message on the schools social media accounts the college said that “Based on reduced numbers of COVID-19 cases on the OCC campus as well as in the surrounding Ocean County community and new guidance from the CDC, the mask mandate for students and employees has been rescinded. Despite this change, the OCC campus will remain “mask-friendly.” Anyone wishing to wear a mask is encouraged to do so.”

KN95 masks will still be available on campus for students and staff who wish to obtain them.

This move comes as colleges around New Jersey and across the country are lifting masking mandates and vaccination requirements as Covid cases continue to decline. Schools like Rowan University, The College of New Jersey and Rider University have announced that their mandates have been lifted. And Stockton University has announced plans to lift their masking mandate as well. And Gov. Phil Murphy dropped mask mandates for K-12 schools statewide on March 7.
