The OCC Sign Club hosted a rock show and raffle only to need to evacuate due to a blackout.
On April 27 the Sign Club performed interrupted versions of popular songs. A raffle was held to raise money for local charities, with prizes donated from local businesses. During the show members of the Sign Club and OCC interrupters program read ticket numbers for the raffle. Halfway through the show, just before intermission, a sudden blackout occurred.
Chaos insured as many of the people attending are deaf, and use ASL, a visual language, to communicate. The students in the program quickly used flashlights to make Professor Piscitelli visible. Piscitelli communicated to the crowd using both ASL and speaking, an action called Sim-Com. The raffle was not finished. The Sign Club plans to finish the raffle as of now there is no set plan.
