The Music Club at Ocean County College was created for a few different reasons: to help students build confidence to perform in front of others, to allow students to go through the critiquing and reviewing process, to help students perform and collaborate with each other and to help students experience and appreciate the many different types of music in the world.
The Music Club is open to everyone that is an OCC student, from students who are music majors, to students who have never played an instrument before and everyone in-between.
Meetings for the club can range from listening to music, to performing and collaborating or talking about different types of musical artists and events.
The club typically hosts at least one open mic event each semester during their club hours and sponsors masterclasses where the students can perform and receive critiques from the artists who are performing at the Grunin Center. The club has sponsored trips into the city to attend musical events and has guest speakers and presenters on different musical topics.
At the end of each semester, the Music Club sponsors a formal student recital with a program. This recital is open to any OCC student who submits a participation form.
Meetings for the Music Club are on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. in Grunin room A 117. For more information, contact [email protected].
