In a phone call with NBC News on Sunday morning, President Trump did not rule out seeking a third term. This is clearly prohibited under the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution, and he clarified that he was “not joking” about it.
“It is far too early to think about it,” Trump ironically said when asked to clarify, even though republicans claim he was “joking” about it the multiple times he has brought it up and has been called the king by the White House on multiple social media platforms. Now he has outright come and said that he is in fact not joking about seeking a third term.
NBC News asked if Vance could run for President and then pass the role to Trump to which Trump responded “that’s one” method.
Another way would be amending the Constitution to abolish the 22nd Amendment which is exceedingly unlikely, needing a two-thirds vote in congress or a constitutional convention to make the change.
“A lot of people would like me to” get a third term in office, Trump said, referencing his poll numbers which at this moment are tanking.
Steve Bannon said in a News Nation interview that he believes Trump will “run and win again in 2028,” saying that there are a few alternatives on how Trump could seek out a third term.
