The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans.
The deal was first reported by ESPN insider Adam Schefter early Wednesday morning.
In return, the Tennessee Titans have received a conditional fourth-round draft pick.
Hopkins, 32, in addition to his Pro Bowl accolades, is a three-time First-team All-Pro and was the NFL’s receiving touchdowns leader in 2017.
However, Hopkins’ offensive prowess has begun to dim. He’s been off to an unusually slow start this year, as he has 15 receptions for 173 yards and only 1 touchdown. He’ll look to increase his production in a diminished Kansas City offense, under star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The injury bug has certainly plagued the Chiefs’ wide receiver room, as they have already lost Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in Week 1 with a sternoclavicular injury, Rashee Rice in Week 4 with an LCL injury, and most recently JuJu Smith-Schuster heading into Week 8.
Despite Kansas City’s perfect record of 6-0, the addition of Hopkins to Kansas City’s offense will hope to offer some stability for the remainder of the season.
