A Hidden Child: The Story of Holocaust Survivor Maud Dahme
The History Department and History Club cordially invite you to attend a guest speaker event, “A Hidden Child: The Story of Holocaust Survivor Maud Dahme.” Born in the Netherlands, Dahme and her family faced persecution under Nazi occupation. Separated from her parents, Dahme was hidden by a Christian family who risked their lives to protect her. After the war, she reunited with her parents and immigrated to the United States. Dahme has since dedicated herself to educating others about the Holocaust, sharing her story in schools, museums, and community organizations. Through her advocacy work, Dahme emphasizes the importance of confronting hatred and prejudice to build a more compassionate and inclusive world.
Maud and her sister are among the subjects of a 2006 documentary, The Hidden Child, which aired on PBS and at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. She is also the author of Chocolate, The Taste of Freedom: The Holocaust Memoir of a Hidden Dutch Child (2015).
