Want to get into the mind of an award-winning author? The Ocean County College Foundation invites author Stacy Schiff to speak for the Blauvelt Speaker Series on Nov. 15 at the Grunin Center.
The Ocean County Library Foundation and the Visiting Writers Series are collaborating with the Blauvet Speaker Series to present Pulitzer Prize-winning author/biographer Stacy Schiff at the Grunin Center for the Arts. The event will take on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. The event is free and open to everyone. Attendees can watch in person or watch online through a livestream.
During Schiff’s lecture, students, staff, and visitors will hear about her background in humanities and the work she is currently doing. Everyone will have the opportunity to speak to Schiff and ask questions during the questions and answer portion of the event.
Schiff is the author of the book “Véra (Mrs. Vladimir Nabokov),” winner of the Pulitzer Prize; Saint-Exupéry, a Pulitzer Prize finalist; “A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America,” winner of the George Washington Book Prize and the Ambassador Book Award; “Cleopatra: A Life”, winner of the PEN/Jacqueline Bograd Weld Award for biography; and most recently, “The Witches: Salem, 1692.”
Schiff, who resides in New York, has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library.
There will be an ASL interpreter present alongside Schiff. Seats will be designated to have the best view and face directly at the ASL interpreter.
