Somerset Patriots 2023 Media Day

Nithin Ramachandra, Sports Writer

At media day for the Somerset Patriots I had the opportunity to interview pitchers Will Warren, Richard Fitts, Clayton Beeter, hitters Trey Sweeney, Anthony Seigler and new manager Raul Dominguez. They had a lot of interesting things to say about their spring training experience, off season work and this upcoming year. Richard Fitts told everyone how excited he is to get the opening night start tonight.

Jasson Dominguez was going to be part of yesterday’s media day schedule but some travel issues from the Dominican Republic got him to Somerset later in the day. Manager Raul Dominguez ready for the opportunity to be a manager for Somerset Patriots as he brings a lot of experience already as a coach. Dominguez told us that he hasn’t really had time to talk to the pitchers but really excited about the potential staff and what they can do. Dominguez has spent a lot of time with Jasson, trying to help him get to the majors sooner then later after a strong spring training.

We learned a lot from this media day as new faces come in, they still have the same mindset to accomplish the same goal from last season. It will be interesting to see how Anthony Seigler does this year with Somerset who the Yankees drafted back in 2018 round 1 pick 23. Seigler is ready for the challenge, a chip on his shoulder and excited for the opportunity. He is expected to be the starting catcher for Somerset Patriots. Also looking forward to seeing Will Warren, Clayton Beeter And Trey Sweeney go at it again as they continue to improve.

All I can say is with all the spring training experience, learning from big league players, it will only help them get better this season. They are focused, hungry, determined, on a mission and ready to defend the championship. It will be a fun year covering Somerset Patriots again with the amazing staff they have also starting with Marc, Hannah, Steven, Stephen, Greg, Matt, Mike, Sparky, Randy, Michael, Julian And Eli.

Jasson Dominguez will be available to the media today before the game tonight at 6:35.

See you soon fans
